Don’t Take It Personally: Life at work

"Look in then outwards; look outwards and then inwards. Improving is like breathing in and out air. Like how other living things in Earth survive, we have to take in the good and expel what is good for others."

Life is whirl wind of experiences. Sometimes we succeed on becoming the best at some things, but there are times when we doubt our capacities to even perform on other tasks. We stumble trying to become good at what we do, whilst we do all in our capacity to be just as that.

There are people who will help us and uplift us to be better, but their means are different from each other. There are those who offer subtle jolt of help and push, but the most trying and testing are those whose means are quite demeaning and challenging. These people, we always should look forward to meeting, because they will tell us what kind of person we are.

People who push the buttons of our sanity are ultimately devilish in our senses. Why do they hate us? Why does everything we do wrong? What it is we have done again?  We hate them and we despise everything they do because we do not understand where they are coming from. But we cannot alter their ways, because that is not ours to do. The only thing we have control over is our own. As the song of Michael Jackson goes, start with the man on the mirror. There are times when arrogance takes over our being, and our conceitedness defy the idea of learning.  We do not want the blame on us, because we do not like the idea of being wrong.

Instead on answering the prior questions above, we keep them hanging mid –air, because truth is we are afraid of admitting that we have something to improve on and we are not just yet ready to be fluid like these people we solely hate. Our choice can either be to become better or to do what we want and think that everybody is just against us.

Being better means to contemplate the things we feel like we lack on. Listen to what others say, because people around us can see us outside our own perspective giving us a 4D view of what we do. Ask them if they don’t tell us directly, because asking people around gives them the idea that we are willing to improve.

{"Look in then outwards; look outwards and then inwards. Improving is like breathing in and out air."}

Observe. Humans are not the only people who learn by observing, but animals and birds, too. Little children become the person the people around them are, because one good way they learn is by observing. But, the difference between us and animals, birds and infants is our ability to dissect which actions or habits are actually helpful for our own improvement.

Ask. Inquire what the work is all about, what people actually do, and why are we not doing anything whilst everybody else is busy doing things. This is the most important learning tool to become better.

People who make us feel bad about ourselves, especially our work, would not be there if we are actually performing. Don’t take things personally and think that people hate on us because of so many possible reasons. People do not hate US. They are not just satisfied with what we DO.

Do not sallow on self-pity. Not everything is about us. Maybe, we have to improve because others are already affected because of our lack of competence. Look in then outwards; look outwards and then inwards. Improving is like breathing in and out air. Like how other living things in Earth survive, we have to take in the good and expel what is good for others. Again, it is just work, do not take it personally.
