"As long as you keep working for it, what is truly for you will not pass you by."
- Bianca Gonzales, "Paano Ba 'To?! How to Survive Growing Up"
---------- oOo ----------
I have stumbled upon this book unexpectedly while holding another book at the counter. This book was displayed there, at the counter when I saw it. I got interested in it not knowing who the author was at that point. I reached for it and read the wordings at the back, and immediately bought it.
I have been hoping to find a book that somehow can help me with my life struggles and I have been blessed with this one. Priced at Php 245.00 at the National Bookstore, this did not bring my money to waste.
The book talks about the struggles we face everyday of our lives in a question and answer format, which makes reading easier and much interesting. It also reaches through all life's facets, including family matter, love life, career, friendships, failures, fashion and beauty and a lot more! Truly, this book is a burst of wisdom coming from the author herself and from various people (including: Toni Gonzaga, Atom Araullo, Ramon Bautista, Tim Yap and a bunch more), equally interesting as the wisdom of the book itself are the burst of colors, artistic doodles and lettering in the book, which added to its overall charm. In addition to that, the book has a surprise that can surely make you giddy (you have to get your hand on this so you can unravel the mystery!)
As I was reading through the pages, I found myself highlighting and marking the passages that are highly influential to me. Some of the passages that have affected me and made me think twice are the following:
1. "WHAT SHOULD BE MY DECIDING POINT IN CHANGING CAREERS?"
"When you no longer CONTRIBUTE, when you're struggling to EXCEL, when you realize it isn't coming out NATURALLY, when it is certainly not a TURN ON and the SPIRIT inside of you will no longer affirm it, it's time to move on. It no longer make C.E.N.T.S. to stay! If it make C.E.N.T.S. to you, it make sense to do!
2. "NA-REJECT AKO. ANG SAKIT! PAANO BA 'TO?"
"Don't take it personally. Madalas, ang rejection ay isang turning point para mapunta tayo sa daan na dapat tinatahak natin. Rejection is also the perfect time for all of us to rethink and re-asses our lives, only to come back better and stronger."
3. "EVERYONE KEEPS ON TALKING ABOUT FINDING YOUR 'PURPOSE,' HOW WILL I FIGURE OUT MY 'PURPOSE' IN LIFE?"
"Instead of strategy, use soul. A purpose in life is the impact you want to leave with your family, your friends and your environment... Remember, purpose is different from a goal, Purpose is like a star that guides you in life not a destination."
4. "I'M PRETTY HAPPY WITH MY LIFE. BUT I FEEL LIKE SOMETHING'S 'MISSING.' WHAT SHOULD I DO?"
"I can reassure you that nothing is missing, you have just forgotten how radiant, beautiful and complete you already are."
5. "PURSUING MY DREAM EVEN IF I'M REJECTED MANY, MANY TIMES."
"As long as you keep working for it, what is truly for you will not pass you by."
