Since time immemorial, we have been in search for things that make us beautiful, perfect and acceptable to the society because these things make us feel better for ourselves. We are always in a rush doing this because we know that people never truly stay. They are never willing to wait for an ugly duckling to turn into a beautiful swan. But, we want them to stay to witness how much we can change even before their very eyes. In this moment of haste, we bombard ourselves with worries, doubts, fears and a long list of what-ifs. We run aimlessly to nowhere in particular, but eventually lose ourselves in the process. Because of this hastiness, simple tasks become complicated and tedious. The nonsensical matters become nut-cracker worries. Most importantly, we forget about the simplest and most impressive natural thing we can do that ultimately show the most beautiful swan in us. We forget to smile.
While I was writing the article about "The Power of Make-Up" (influenced by Niki Tutorials) I have come to a realization that no matter how well I may plaster these wonderful paint on my face but without a smile, still, I cannot show the best version of me. So, I smiled, took a photo of myself and viola! Life changer in an instant.
I took the same photos I used from my "The Power of Make-Up" blog post, but this time, I cropped the sides without make-up from the side with make-up. Afterwards, I placed the two same part of my face beside each other, now showing you a made-up and a bare face with one side smiling and the other side neautral-faced.
In the photo without make -up on, my under-eye circle and uneven skin color are much noticeable on the side I am not smiling. But, on the side I smiled, the under-eye circle is less prominent and the uneven skin tone is less noticeable, as well. Even my scars on my nose is less obvious on the one I am smiling. In addition to, try to cover the side I am not smiling, you will observe that my face becomes friendly, uplifting and encouraging. These three things can already make you feel welcomed without imposing others to do so, because it tells them you are comfortable with them and they do not need to entertain you with small talks.
So smile, and spread the good news. Show them that despite our imperfections, still, there is this one natural and innate thing in us that can totally impress the world and break the chain of this seemingly uncertain facade we all wear everyday. Let us raise ourselves beyond these materialistic wanting of perfectionism and learn to smile!
(Below, are the original photos I took.)
