My Love for Hosting

Memories
------------------------------
Entry No. 0.1

If there were few things I would always want to go back to it was the experience of being on stage to host. Not all people know of this fact about me because I was not that vocal about it to everyone. I started public speaking when I was in elementary through speaking contests. I was even chosen as one of the college representatives for intercollegiate debate contest. The love for spoken words did extend up until I graduated and worked as a professional nurse. I helped children prepare for the same competitions and even did some hosting stints for the company I was affiliated in at the time. People would never thought of me as a good emcee for any occasion or whatsoever if it was not because of the fact that for some reason, some people thought I would be a good candidate to join a beauty pageant in our company, which is very unlikely given my plain looks. I told the head of the committee that I would rather host the event than become a part of the competition itself. Few weeks passed and I have never thought that I would actually be asked to do the hosting for the pageant. I was happy, excited but nervous at the same time.

As I was trying to remember the very first time I did hosting, my memory would always lead me back when was when I was in high school. But, I do not have any proof nor vast memory of that day. I just remembered that we were asked to wear some crazy outfit and make-up and that's all. The next few events were for few minor school activities not until college. I was chosen for another major gig as a pageant host in our college. I could still feel the excitement and the nervousness. I did my own makeup and some other candidate's make up artist did helped me with my hair. There were major glitches during the event due to some other reason, but it didn't hinder the wondrous feeling hosting gave me that night.

(Below are some photos I had during college days hosting gigs)

I never thought I would step on stage again as an emcee until that circumstance I had with our company, which I have already talked about earlier. From that pageant night, I was also asked to host for the Nurse's week then for the Christmas party which is usually hosted by some of the renowned doctors of the company. I felt really appreciated being chosen more than once to host some of the company events. I know it was not that of a big deal, but for a person who loves doing these kinds of things, like me, it is something to hold on to and maybe be proud of.

(The following photos are the first hosting stint I did for the hospital I was affiliated with at the time.
It was a pageant for their employees.)
